"Cruise ship crew member disappears while being fired"

Authorities are now searching for a cruise ship member who disappeared off the ship Emerald Princess as he was being fired from his job this morning. The foreign national worked on the ship that was docked in Port Everglades. As six people, including him were being let go, the man "slipped off the ship". The search for the man began at 12:30 P.M. They were also stopping cars that were leaving the port in case the man was trying to hitchhike back to the city. Ships often hire people in countries they visit and return them to their homes when the ship comes back to port. When foreign nationals are employed and then fired, they usually get turned over to Customs and Border Protection to be sent back home. This could give the man a very good reason to disappear.
