"Students at midwest high school cope with HIV scare"

Students at a suburban St. Louis high school all have been brought to the gym for HIV testing this past week after an infected student told health officials that close to 50 students could have been exposed to HIV. A positive HIV test raised concerns for students at Normandy High could have been exposed. Jasmine Lane, a 16-year-old sophomore, said her boyfriend attending a different high school broke up with her after hearing about the scare, even after she bought them both tickets to homecoming. A spokesman from the nearby Health Department said that the possibilities on the ways of exposure include tattoos, piercings, "intravenous" drug use, and sexual activity. All 1,300 students attending the high school are all being tested. Students grades four through twelve are already enrolled in classes that talk about the consequences from "risky behavior", including HIV.
