A donkey may symbolize the Democratic Party, but no Dominican wants to be compared to one on national T.V.
Here's what happened. Kelly Ripa was telling a story on Monday about one of her 37 kids learning about government and said how the Republicans were represented by the elephant and the Dominicans were represented by a donkey. Regis then replied, "She's pretty close."
A Dominican-American group is now demanding for an apology from the show saying, "host Regis Philbin practically agreed with laughter over what the two thought was a joke." Both Dominican-American and Latino leaders plan to stage a protest tomorrow outside the ABC studios tomorrow.

This brings up the issue of being careful what you say, where you say it. Regis may not have heart-fully meant the comment, but even that doesn't exempt the fact that you may have offended someone. Some people may think that it is just a funny line, and that it is perfect to say, but the reality is that people don't realize it.
