"Reindeer Salami"
Just in time for the holidays, IKEA in Britain is offering something new, reindeer salami. It's a good time of year to get attention for the plight of the poor reindeer, which is not treated with reverence by the herders today, according to animal rights activists. In England, a group is taking the season to call attention to how these animals are treated by protesting IKEA's sales of reindeer salami. Most reindeer are herded in Sweden by helicopter and snowmobile which scares them and stresses them, and that most are slaughtered as calves. These animals are being raised in harsh conditions to be group up and served as a sausage. The group wants IKEA to ban the products. It has said that the campaign may be heading toward the US next.
